College Media Podcast: A Full-Page Ad Controversy & a Shape-Shifting Sketch Tool

Welcome to the latest installment of the College Media Podcast. The CMP is a collaborative venture with Bryan Murley from the Center for Innovation in College Media.

The podcast’s aim: spotlighting big college media news, standout student press work and an array of helpful and innovative tips, sites, programs and tech tools.

1In our most recent episode, we discuss the decision of The Daily Collegian team at the University of Massachusetts Amherst earlier this month to publish an issue featuring an advertisement splashed across the ENTIRE front page.

As I previously posted, top editors confirmed the front-page ad presented an “ethical conundrum” for Collegian staff and was ultimately approved as “an innovative tactic to help aid our funding.”

At the close of our chat, Bryan also introduces Skitch, an interesting, easy-to-use image-annotation tool.
