50 Best Student Press Websites: 2013 Edition

Lively. Responsive. Innovative. Frequently updated. Visual. Easily navigable. Professional. Content-driven. Multimedia-friendly. And millennial-generation cool.

The best websites constructed and maintained by college media outlets and student-powered reporting labs embody all or most of those attributes. And many of the sites are also, magically, wonderfully, imperfect– for the right reasons. They are imperfect because their staffs are determined to reinvent or at least continually tinker, keeping in touch with audience appetites and the overwhelming array of digital and mobile possibilities.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos recently told staff at his newest acquisition The Washington Post, “All businesses need to be young forever. If your customer base ages with you, you’re Woolworth’s. The number one rule has to be: Don’t be boring.”

In that spirit, above all else, below is a rundown of the 50 least boring websites in college media circa now. They represent the most exciting, fascinating, polished and inventive online presences the student press and student journalism news services have to offer.

To respectfully nominate a separate student site for least boring status, please comment on this post ASAP.
